Just really excited right now as today I completed an order with Medford Knife & Tool for my first custom "to me" knife. I know they are kind of turning into a production knife maker, but I was extremely lucky to be able to include some features that are not part of the standard menu.
I have to say that working with Greg over at Medford Knives is a really great experience. You send the guy an email and think he might get back to you in a day or two, and 5 minutes later he is calling you to talk about any questions you might have or even just to shoot the shit about the knife you are interested in. Very rare type of experience for a place that has so much attention and is cranking out a lot of knives to call every customer on the spot and walk them through any questions.
I've been watching his daily you tube videos and just enjoying seeing the guy get so cranked up about knives every day. Now the hard part starts. I have never waited for more than a few weeks for anything I have ever ordered. I guess I have been lucky or maybe I just purposely steered clear of dealing with long lead time types of operations. I am the type of guy who will spend 3 days looking for a shop within 100 miles of me where I can go in and actually touch what I want to buy and take it home with me. I go crazy just waiting 5 days for an instock item to ship to me
Oh well, hopefully I can focus on something else for a while and be surprised some months from now...
