I have an older Pinnacle "tactical" folder with a BB blade finish from Brian that I though could use a little makeover (I'm really getting tired of BB). I sent it off to Canada so he could put a hand rubbed satin polish on the blade (current versions of this knife already come in satin). It was returned quickly with a really beautiful finish in a nice new style pouch with all the titanium freshly refinished as well. The charge was extremely reasonable, especially since Brian had a heck of a time hand rubbing the deep original bead blast out. Brian's work is first class and his designs are truly modern and ergonomic. I recommend him.

I second that. Brian is not only a first rate knifemaker and photographer, he is also a gentleman. Some of his work can be seen on the Canadian Knifemakers' Guild website. I believe his work is also carried by Les Robertson, Arizona Custom Knives and KnifeArt.com which recently acquired some incredible folders. One of Brian's neck knives is what I wear when I run or jog, but it's one of the damascus folders that has me salivating. The craftsmanship and artistry are really excellent. He doesn't forge his own damascus, but his choices are superb. Unfortunately, he doesn't have email, but he does now have a computer and he may actually turn it on in the near future.

Brian has alot of Class, as do all his knives..

I second all things said.

I feel like his recognition and reputation will continue to grow in the future.
Keep your eyes out for a exclusive project we are working on.

But Brian's knife design, doesnt work
for me (the rectangular blade catch).

So in talking with Jay at Arizona Custom Knives, he suggested I contact Brian via
email, so I emailed Brian, and within an hour, he's calling me on the phone, on his dime! (Seattle, from Ontario canada).

I'm now having Brian build 2 Tanto's for
me (One left hand, one right handed), plus
some modifications for a higher thumbramp,
and reversed thumb serrations, and
a button (instead of disk) blade catch. (Plus one inch blade serrations).

Brian is a great guy, helpful, quick email and phone response, etc.

I look forward to when my knives arrive...

Hey, Pirate!
When the heck did Brian get email and what is it? I guess he found the on button on his computer, but he hasn't updated his CKG website with the news.

Brian Tighe [tighe@netcom.ca]

he has a website on the Canadian Knifemakers
guild page. as well

Pirate, I'm surprised that you didn't care for Brian's standard rectangular thumb "catch." Of all the different takes on the thumb disk that I've handled, I think this one works the best for me. I like the way it feels like a continuation of the handle and makes a great thumb platform. What's not to like?

For me, the rectangular thing'o just
plain doesnt work...

why? dunno, I just find catching it, and
where (and what) I have to do to open it,
just doesnt work for me...

I have found the placement of the thumb stud,
hole, disk, whatever, seems to depend
on how you grip, and your size of hands, and
size of (length and width) of your digits.

Spyderco's work great for me (And Roger Dole
is making me a custom Tanto with a Spyderco
hole), the disk doesnt work for me, and
the thumb studs (plain round ones) dont
either. I like the concentric-smaller cirles
thumb studs, they "catch" my thumb better.

Probably why some folks like Corvettes,
over Porsche's, BMW, etc. Like anything
else, you have to "fit" what you use.
(or it has to fit you...

Have a Orion auto from Brian. It is my favorite single action auto.Has a sound when it opens that is real unique.Has a subtle ping instead of a "snick". NEAT------------
