I've posted a lot here on how I thought Kershaws shipped with edges that were much more obtuse than even other production knives I immediately reprofile. Well, I'm here to eat my words now. I just received the JYD2 I ordered since someone else grabbed the give away knife and its edge is a world apart from my other out of box Kershaws. Same with my Needs Work, though that knife is no longer with me for other reasons. I just whittled a seasoned hardwood stick, one of the tests I do to my new knives, and the JYD2 feels so much different at the edge than my Mini Cyclone, Storm or Leek did when they were brand new.
I don't know if the new models are shipping with more acute edges (Feels like it judging by the angle I hold the knife to whittle) but they feel like a huge improvement to me in the area I was criticising not more than a few weeks ago. I'll still be thinning the edge out some on the JYD2 when I go to sharpen it, but this is a knife that I could use with the factory bevel and feel pretty content.
Good job Kershaw.
On another note, the JYD2 has the roughest G10 I've felt. +1 in my book
