Vince and Grace live in Show Low,AZ. They had to evacuate their house on Wedensday. They stayed with Richard Rogers that night and are now in Tucsan, AZ. at his sisters. The fire break was built at their neighborhood. The fire crossed it last night. The last few days I could get their answering machine, now I can't. They don't know if they have a house and shop or not!

Please stop and take a minute to pray for EVERYONE involved.

Thank You

Darby,

Their house may still be OK. Most of the phone lines in that area are down. Now, the entire town of Show Low has been evacuated. My parents left last night.

I was going up there on vacation next week and was planning on stopping in at Vince and Grace's place, but now it looks that the place is off limits.

This is one of the worst wildfires in US history. It has consumed over 300,000 acres and is now nearly larger than the size of the entire Phoenix metropolitan area.

Yes, my prayers are with Vince and Grace Evans and the other 25,000 people whose homes are in jeopardy.

Vince called. Their sub-division burned late Thursday. The A fram you see burning on the news is at the far end of their division. They were able to save several houses there. Vince hopes theirs is one that made it. They won't know for several days. He also said Ken Mc Fall of K and G supply was also in danger of losing everything.

I wish you could have heard how up beat they are! I have never known them to waver. What great people...

News like this sure brings to light just how fast disaster can strike and that there is nothing that can be done to stop it.

My wishes go out to vince and Grace. I sure hope that things work out for them.

Wow, that sucks. All of us are pulling for them, and the others affected.

I'd send my warmest regards, but the pun just isn't that funny :(

I wish the very best for our friend Vince and family, and would like to know if there's any way that I, or any other member of the sword/knife community can help.

Robert.

I, too, will pray for the Evans'. What a shame to lose everything you've created, built & saved to a fire.

Unfortunately, this IS NOT the worst wildfire in U.S. history. In the late 1800's there were some truly huge fires in northern Michigan and Wisconsin. For example, the great Peshtigo fire of 1871 burned over 1.2 million acres and killed over 1200 people. Smoke covered the entire Great Lakes basin. As terrible as these current fires are, they have a long, long way to go before they become our worst. Let's pray they do not!

Robert, prayer is all we can do right now. They won't know if they still have a house and shop for a few more days. I have contacted the "Arkansas Mafia" and Wes Byrd from TN. If they have lost it all I will be taking a truck and trailer around the state to get shop tools. Several of the makers have said they would go with me to build his shop back. We would pick up a bob-cat on the way for clean up. I pray we don't have to go but if we do;WE"LL BE THERE!

Thanks to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that is VERY cool. From what I can see the whole town is toast. We need to start a collection to help them out. IM IN!!! Just let me know where to send it!

Vince and Gracy are very special people. When we know the fate of the house and shop I will be headed west from Tennessee. If anyone has a hammer and saw and would like a ride let me know. I will be going through Arkansas to Darb's first then west from there. My prayers are with Vince and I hope for the best, but we need to plan for the worst.

Thanks for keeping us posted folks. Latest national news is that they have things under control in that area from the work accomplished last night by the fire-fighters.

Grace and Vince are indeed very special people with special friends.

Well it isn't all over yet, but YaY all the same!

Wes, you'd have to make a detour to Minnesota to pick me up, but I'll join ya if that ends up happening.

Cool, soothing, water-filled regards,
Robert.
