hello folks,

We found out late last week that my soon to be 8 year old daughter, Abby, will need open heart surgery to have a hole in her heart repaired. It is between the upper and lower chambers. If not repaired, she would eventually have more enlargement of the right ventricle, and ultimately have fatal lung complications. sometime in her twenties, most probably.

It is not life threatening at the moment, but we hope to have it done sometime this fall or next spring.

Among other things, this will likely result in my bowing out of the fall Bison hunt.

besides all that, I am also going through looking for a new church again. Something closer to home, and not so eager to bind one's conscience contrary to my understanding of the Bible.

We have also had some water shortage, and have learned about doing wash by filling up a bucket, using a new plunger to agitate, then using the washer for spinning only.

My wife has been wonderful, as always! It seems that in addition to the dry weather, the water system had been programmed to back flush too frequently. That has been corrected, and the situation has gotten a bit better.

Not complaining, just explaining! :D

Thanks for listening, and for your prayers. The prospect of having my only little girl on a heart machine for several hours makes me feel uneasy, even though the procedure is not uncommon!

Always prayers for Gravertom.
I'm glad they can accomplish this today, and we have more options than 100 years ago.

Prayers for the little one and her parents. Tom, you had more than your share of problems. It's time for some good times!

What Steve said! Smoke going up for a full recovery and an easy time of healing for Abby!

And Tom my granddaughter Jessica had an open heart surgery when she was somewhat younger than Abby. Jessica healed well and is doing well even with all she went through some while back.
Abby will be and do fine too.
Kids are resilient and it's a really good thing! :D

Thanks guys.

It's 10:15, and I am actually going to bed!

Talk to y'all later!

Tom

We hope for the best for your daughter, Tom.
As Munk said, so much more can be done these days.
Let the gratitude for that and hope for a better tomorrow for her take away some of your fears.

Prayers are sent. You know, sometimes finding one's own individual spirit is the valuable thing. I've made it an acute search for what I really feel and think And in this quest, I've learned a whole lot. About the nature of truth and how to get through hard times. A big part of that is those whom you love.

Just know that we're all here on your side. All of us.

Almost a routine surgery nowadays. Seen probably a couple of hundred over the years. She will do great. How could she not with all the positive energy sent her way and prayers on her behalf. Prayers from TX for your family.
