I just now got back from Cornell Veterinary Hospital.
Earlier this evening, our 14yr old little girl Addy (Daughter of 21yr old Cassie, Whom we lost, this month, last year.) started to have a seizure and we rushed her to the hospital. The prognosis was not good. They suspected that its a brain tumor by the neurological symptoms. Options weighed and things considered, we were leaning towards ending her suffering before it could get any worse.
I decided to go have a smoke and calm down a bit and give things the once over before making final decisions. I started waffling in my resolve a little because of the tiny bit of hope that always springs eternal......
Before i can ponder much at all, my little baby girl goes into a major seizure and for all intents and purposes is unrecoverable.
Made the decision to send her on her way to be with her mother. Happy and Whole again.

I delivered this one on my living room floor by my own hand. I was hoping it would end peacefully and quietly of happy old age in the same place.

Rest in peace now, little sweetheart. My Good Girl. I will always remember and love you.

She was truly loved and will have a place in your heart forever.... I don't think anyone could possibly ask for more in this life. Blessings to you.

Karda, my heart is broken.:(
I'm so sorry to hear this. Prayers on the way.

So sorry for your loss. You will see them again.

"Rainbow Bridge"

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The old ones are our treasures. I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry. Condolences to you and the family.

Dogs really do occupy a special place in our hearts.

Thank you my friends!
Your sympathies mean much to me right now. I'm more than a little bummed out by this. Likely because we've actually lost 6 or 7 animals since losing the wifes grandpa in 2010. All of old age or infirmity/disease due to old age. Addy lived as long a life as any dog has a right to expect, her mother, Cassie, got a few extra years under her belt. For that i'm extra grateful. I'm also grateful that both ladies went west as quickly as they did. I'm just very sad to see them go and missing their prescence with me after being by my side so many years.

Smoke & prayers sent high! When I had to put my old pal down it was a dark day.She loved ice and I still wait for her to come running when ever I drop an ice cube.

Prayers and smoke for Addy

We all live forever in memory. Somehow dogs seem to do memories so well, which is why we need to know we will meet again.

More smoke. My old dog Blue is 14 and is deaf but while he gets stiff he's in good health. But the day is coming. Hope I can show as much courage as you all have. It's never easy.

my heartfelt condolences. i also have lost my millie this weekend. it's hard for non-dog people to understand the depth of the bonds we make together.
