No, NOT me.

Alex Karras, former All Pro Defensive lineman of the Detroit Lions, and later successful actor, is in terminal stages of kidney failure. He has been suffering dementia issues for nearly 10 years, and is one of the defendants in the current lawsuit against the NFL.

Prayers and smoke to the Karras family, and wishing a painless and swift journey for Mr. Karras. Gonna miss you Mongo. :(

Prayers on the way. He did a lot to entertain us over the years. I hope he lived his life well.

+1.... Unlike most of todays players, I have a lot of respect for the players form years past. They played for the love of the game. Not how many gajillions of dollars they could make.

The character of Mongo, and the movie Blazing Saddles are both classics Smoke ( seems appropriate ) going up for Alex and his family
 
Sorry to hear about this. For anybody who hasn't read it, go get yourself a copy of Paper Lion, a book by George Plimpton, who "tried out" for the Detroit Lions. He was an author who would actually go to sports teams and find out what it was like to try to play. Karras was a main person in that book.

Very sad stories about a lot of former NFL players who are ending up with dimentia, including Jim McMahon, who is pretty young.
