Hello everbody. I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing but my family and I could really use some help. Recently my 5 month old daughter was diagnosed with CHF (congestive heart failure) due to multiple VSDs (holes in the center of her heart). She was having a very hard time gaining weight and was breathing at about twice the rate of a normal baby (70-80 breaths per minute). After a week in the hospital struggling to get her to gain weight, even after inserting a feeding tube through her nose, We were sent home and told that surgery was our only option. Of course my girlfriend Melissa and I were crushed, but we knew that something had to be done to help or little angel get better. After a couple of very stressful weeks at home we got the call that a surgical opening had arisen and we err to be at the hospital in 2 days got pre-op. A couple of restless nights later we were headed to the University of Iowa to have her major VSD closed. We were given instructions on where to arrive and what the surgery would entail, and sent on our way with the understanding we were to be back first thing in the morning to the operation. That morning family arrived from ad far as 10 hours away to sit with us and keep us company while we waited. We were all so nervous, and it was all we could do to keep from breaking down. After only 4 hours (the surgery was supposed to take 6) the surgeon came into the waiting room and delivered the news.... EVERYTHING WENT GREAT! Jaime was being stitched up and taken to the PICU for recovery. We were told that the average time babies spend in the hospital after a surgery like that was 7-8 days. We were only there for 4. Our little girl proved her strength to everyone and showed us what a true warrior looks like.

Thank you all for taking the time to read about our little heart warrior. Positive thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery are greatly appreciated :).

Much love to the BF family,
-Ryan W

Here is a picture of Jaime shortly after her surgery. She had gained nearly 3 pounds in 3 weeks! What a trooper!

What a beautiful/strong little trooper. I will make sure to pray for her and for her strong family.

God Bless You for what you are doing.

Our little muffin was diagnosed antenataly with TGA. My wife and I totally understand how stressful and scary it can be to have to worry about the possibility of losing your new addition to the family and spend hours in the PICU with your little one, that has more wires and sensors hooked up to them than the space shuttle.

Our goober pulled through, no problem. These little goobers are tougher than you think. They heal up fast and nothing will slow them down.

Our boy is now 2 and is a hand full. It looks as though your little girl is happy as ever and doing great! Our thoughts and prayers are with you brother.

You got 'em coming your way Ryan. Good looking baby. I am sure she will do well and those scars make for good stories as you get older.
I had two surgeries for hernias before I was two months old. The gals love hernia scars.
My grandson (10 months) was born with a Tracheoesophageal fistula which required immediate surgery at birth. Sad to see a baby hooked up to so many tubes and monitors.
He was in the hospital 10 days and is doing great now. He is at the top 10% of the growth chart. Do not worry my friend. All will be well. BF is the best place for alternative healing.

Thanks everyone. She is doing really well now. Seeing get laying there with all the wires and IV tubes was really rough.

Congratulations to all on her progress! Isn't modern medical science miraculous?

Beautiful little baby girl. Praying for her complete recovery. God bless.

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement. She truly had endured more in her first six months than a lot of people do in their whole childhood. She's our little trooper :)

She's a sweetheart.
Also prayers for you and Melissa during this trying time.
