I just picked up a pre-86 303 in an auction that’s missing its shield; kind of a rescue project knife. Does any know where I can purchase a replacement shield? I hope this inquiry isn’t out of line on this forum.

I don't know if Buck has them for sale.
A knife making supply house may have some oval shields that sill work, or you can always make one out of brass sheet or whittle one from a piece of whatever wood you have and/or like ... or perhaps cut one from a piece of handle spacer/backing or bone/horn/sea shell.

Only source for that would be from a donor junk knife. Occasionally at gun/knife shows someone will have a junk box to pick thru but they always seem to want $5/$10 for a broken knife. The 303 is too common to put very much into a sad sack. Good luck and have fun with it.

I just happen to have access to more “ donor” 303 then I can ever use. Post your email on my profile page and I’ll email you for your shipping address and get you what you need.

Or unless this knife actually means something to you, how about I trade you the user for a new never used one? Again I have plenty of spare new Camillus 303

Oh and welcome aboard.

Gentlemen -

I thank you all for the kind words and input. David, you have actually responded to some of my threads in the past, with good info.

Mr. Neal - I will be in touch, thank you kindly.

Just in passing - after I won the above-referenced auction, my good wife and I had a conversation that began with her saying 'So, why did we buy another pocket knife'....

For context. I bet it sounds familiar to some folks here.
