I'm trying to get some background on a knife I've been carrying on and off since 1985. It's a small lockback folder with bolsters, a micarta handle and with a lanyard hole.
The blade is a 2" spear point with a top swedge. On the blade is a "Benchmade" logo--butterfly. Written across the butterfly is "BALI-SONG" (This IS NOT a bali-song flip knife)On the opposite side of the blade it says "P C C 902-Japan"
I seem to remember reading something about the history of Benchmade and that they were previously known as "Bali-song Knives" and "California Knives". My memory on this topic is a little vague, so forgive me.
When I purchased this knife, there was also a larger version of the same knife. I believe they were called "The Monarch".
Over the years, my love of knives has grown and led me to carry many, many fine knives, but I keep coming back to this little knife. So, I thought-Who better to ask about the background of this knife then the Blade Forumites?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.--Thanks, Mark
