Your very early Buck 105 will be described in detail pretty soon. One of the expert fixed blade folks will be along this evening.

In your other post, when you clicked on photos to increase size you got a group of photos showing girls and some guy wearing a crown.
He looked a little like the Burger King man...

hopefully the photos are right this time, I apologize if that was in some way my error, i have used a new host, very exited to hear about the knife!!!!!

As long as it's ok for me to go forward with an answer...?
Your Buck model with Lignum handles is a Group 9 knife from years 1955-56. That handle material ended after this. A good find. Did you manage to get the original sheath? Buck could clean it up for you. Welcome to the Buck Forum. Now off to sell it? DM

Thanks for your help sir, Yes, I probably will try to sell it now....
Im wondering if ebay is a good place for something like this or if im better off trying to make a private sale, anyways, I really appreciate the help, J

thank you for the warm welcome!
David - Unfortunately I was not lucky enough that day to find the original scabbard along with this knife, :(

Double h, If you wish to ask questions on value or possible means of selling a knife, please click on the forum name of some person you think will help you and use the forum link email or private mail for private discussions. I suspect it will work in reverse for you also.

I would be very interested in the grind on that knife. Hollow or sabre? I can't tell from the photos. Thanks.

It looks like the hollow grind Buck used in the 60's and 70's that got thick again towards the edge, looking at the last photo.

what site is there a similar knife on??? and do you guys need more photos of this knife??

I am not locking thread, everyone but OP should know the rules he apparently just did a first timer skim, no talking value if your not a gold member. The OP is in a first post mode so, if anymore talk about value or selling takes place that is it. The OP or other forum members can go to email to get info.by clicking on avatar profile. You can talk about how rare it is, etc. not about $$$ either direction.

Come on GSEA I need your help in these situations. No $$$ talk.

Ok, for you gotta be nice folks, here is how you do it. " That knife is a really early and rare Buck. If it was in better shape and had its original sheath it would be a valuable knife. But it looked pretty rough in the first photos. Did you oil the leather spacers since the first photos ?" So if anyone is in helpful mode send them a email with numbers.

No $$$ talk unless Gold membership, read the rules.

Not an expert by any means on pre-factory but I would have said the handle was Ebony, not Lignum Vitae.

I got to this post late... Sorry. I only stop by when requested these days. Dave is right... The knife is a group 9 knife. The handle is made of LV, if it were Ebony it would be much darker, almost black. Dave was spot on with the dates, it was made from '55-'56. It is a model 105 if it wasn't obvious. great knife. Thanks Desoto...

I cant seem to remember where I stored all my pictures, whether is was Photo bucket or the other one that slips my memory but if I could remember I would post side by side pictures and you would see the difference. Gaboon Ebony is almost black and in that time period they only used LV or Ebony.

What can you say about the grind?

Deep hollow? Shallow hollow? Flat sabre?

Very closely related and, being very interested in the history of production processes particularly the roll over from hand made to machine made products, any insight on the kind of grinding machinery Buck would have been using? Wheels? If so, how big (smaller/deeper hollow, larger/shallower) or belt?

Thanks.
