well i hate to bother you guys with what may seem like a stupid question, or just the fact that i dont own a single busse yet:( ive been realy impressed by all the busse knives i have seen, as well as how cool the Hogs ive seen around here are. so i figure with the amount of time and money ive put into knives its time to get a top of the line fixed blade .

im planning on joining the Marines in a little under 6 months so im looking for a combat oriented knife that is about 6 inches long, give or take an inch, unfortunantly i live in cali so the ones with mettal hand gaurds are out of the question:( price isnt a huge factor but the cheaper the better. it dosnt need to be anything special just a military type knife that will doubtlessly become one of many busse's i own, and the end of my extra cash problem

thanks for your time guys

Athough I don't own a Hell Razor, I do own other Busse Combat Blades. I can't imagine ever owning one and feeling regret over it (except the reget of only owning one). Go for it, ya know ya wannit!;)

I own two HR's, one with standard and one with mag grips. If you've got even slightly larger hands, get the mag handles. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Wannabemarine,

The guys have given you some good advice. You can't go wrong with either the HR or the SJ Tac. You have to be careful though. I don't know about today, but it used to be that some units won't allow you to carry your own knife. The only thing you were allowed to carry was a Kabar or something that closely resembled one. It would be a real bummer to own a brand new Busse and not be allowed to carry it.

IMHO, in risk of getting trampled by the hogs, a great military knife is the Green Beret by CRK. It would not draw alot of attention from the higher ups and is partially serrated (Which also IMHO is an absolute must in the field) because most military personnel do not use their knives on the enemy, but they use them on just about everything else. And finally, if you ever did have to use your knife for its intended purpose, a long thick more narrow blade is better suited than a wide blade for the techniques you will be taught.

Semper Fi,

Mate, grab a hell razor without a doubt. They are an awsome military/combat style knife. I have a Mud razor on the way that will be going straight onto my webbing/vest and one of my mates just picked up hell razor a few weeks ago for the same purpose.. Grab one while you still can..

Although I don't own any Busses, I do own many fine pictures of them.

I agree with the above, the Hell Razor would be an excellent first choice. It is about the size of a Kabar and better than anything else out there in that size range. It can do combat and can do utility.

Hey folks, first post. Reading for a while.

Best jump on that Hell Razor soon. The 4 models they've been carrying are in and out on a daily basis. Right now (Mon nite) only the std black and OD magnum are available.

I honestly can't wait for mine to get here. I'm giddy like a schoolgirl. ;)

wow thanks for all the help, i was defiantly looking at the Hell Razor, or a standard Battle Mistress, and RJD i owe you one for the non standard knife help, i did some research and it turns out that allot of units have specifications that must be met while others with even less leniency wont allow any other knife but the Ka-Bar to be carried. this probably came around due to knife envy in the presence of a Marine with a Busse! ill scatch up as much money as i can and try to get a Hell Razor, seems to fit the specifications i need, it also has that whole shock and awe aspect. serrations are another good tip, and i will look into a green beret by crkt but only after i have at least one Busse :D .

again thanks for the help, ill show you pics as soon as i get my first busse!
might even contribute some Hog oriented art soon.

OOH-RAAH

If you one day are blessed enough to actually claim the title "Marine," you will no longer need any knife to induce "shock and awe" in other, lesser beings. Other Marines will not envy you, nor will they envy your knives, for you will be brothers-in-arms, taking joy in each others accomplishments and triumphs. Save up you pennies and get a Busse, you can buy your way into this crowd, but your time would be better spent sweating, running, jacking steel, and putting your heart into attaining the goal you indicate by your screen name.

glassjaw youve got a good point most of the Marine oriented comments were sarcasm, and actualy i became interstead in knives as a sort of extension to martial arts in the hopes that when i do join i can bring something more to the table than just some boot kid from california. as far as training goes the last 2 years of my life have been dedicated to training, as of last week i got a 5 minute mile time, thanks for the corrections arrogance is something i always try to avoid.

so far i have about 200$ saved so hopefully i will order one in about a week.

Hopefully, there will be one next week. They have been gone for most of the day. There aere some there OD/Black with either mag or std scales), but will be gone quickly.

Don't take my above comments too critically. I was in a surly mood the other night. I'm sure the Glassjaw was a typo, so I will disregard... And remember, Marine is always capitalized when referring to a devildog.

Five min. mile is pretty damn fast. What are you doing for three? Martial arts should help you out with the upperbody strength, how many deadhangs you pulling?

So are you on the delayed entry program now? Waiting to finish high school? Why wait six months? I'm sure the recruiter would be happier putting you on a bus next week. Are you putting in for Infantry? So many questions. Good luck.
