Pre-Production 940 questions

I picked up a pre-production 942 or a handle swap 940 for about 85$ dollar investment. I plan on this being a user but before I carry it around is there any value to a collector I should consider? I don’t consider myself a collector only a user and I don’t want to destroy something one might consider collectible. Next I was surprised this has a plastic or maybe Teflon washers is this appropriate for this knife? Thanks for any added info

The washers are Teflon and yes they are correct for the knife...as far as value in the future to a collector because of the “pre production” only time could tell....going by current standard model resell... that time is a long way off

If it was mine, I would use the snot out of it. However, since I really don't use my knives too hard, it would be full of snot for quite some time.

I honestly do not think there is any noticeable incremental value in our lifetimes. I'd use it.

IMHO, You’ll receive a lot more enjoyment out of carrying and utilizing that 940 daily than you ever would if you were to keep it in a safe and sell it for a couple of extra bucks some day. Enjoy it.

My intention was not for making money or keeping it in a safe it’s plan was always to be a user but if it had collection value to someone else I would be happy to give someone the blade in exchange for any other blade with no perceived collector value before I start carting it around heavy and all free of charge just swap out. It seems it has no value to anyone so I shall start carrying it around. Thanks everyone.

Use your knife. It's seen time spent cutting things, and could use a trip to the factory for a tune up. Plain edged version usually bring more value also. Take off a few more bucks if you don't have the box for it.
