I just received a 710HS that is engraved with the following description:
"PRE-PRODUCTION RUN
353 OF 400"

Should I be glad to have this, or does this lack some "fixes" in the regular models? Does this have some collector value? I assume not. Thanks for any info y'all can provide.

First,
WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!!!

And I myself would be proud to own a pre production model, because of its collector value it may not be woryth much now but dont worry, I predict that later they will be.........

Thank you for the welcome. I have just recently began collecting knives. I ordered the mentioned 710HS, the 910HS and the Boker Infinity. So far I like them. I bought the knives from Skyland Cutlery and am quite happy with their service.

The only thing new about the 710HS is the blade steel. The handle design and materials are the same as have been in use on the regular production 710 for many months. I am not even sure why Benchmade serialized a pre-production run of these knives. At any rate, be assured that everything about it is well sorted out.

No particular collector appeal has materialized for Benchmade knives that I know of, the exception being for the older balisongs and the custom balisongs. The old Brend collaboration model does seem to sell at slightly above new prices when you can find them though.

Thank you for the information. I am new to the board and have found y'all to be very informative.
