Here are the first 2 prototypes. Variants in handle material.

Duane's will feature his custom logo.

Note these prototypes have experimental feature of oval blade cutout for use with issue M-9 bayonet sheath to be used as wire cutters.

The first custom pieces Duane will release to the public will NOT have the wire cutting detail.

We hope to see a few varations of these by the end of August.

We DO NOT have these prototypes for sale. Duane let us have them for a few days to take the pics and they are going right back to Duane.

These Duane Customs rock!

I've had the chance to handle these. They are really nice. It fits perfectly into the issue bayonet sheath. It gives the average GI a sweet replacement for those crappy bayonets that never get used. Kinda nice to have a Dwyer that fits right in with your issue gear. Hell, you might even sneak it past a faggoty resource manager as "issue" gear.

Excuse my ignorance, but does the wire cutter function actually work? Does the cut-out hole act as an anchor point which holds the knife steady in position? But how do you cut? Heck, why do you need a wire cutter in the first place?

Can I assume the price of Duane's customs to be in the region of Mick's? i.e. $800?

Type of steel?

the M-9 sheath is designed to work as a wire cutter. the military intent was to snip thru barbed wire.

the proto's are ats-34, not quite sure about the ones coming up.

we'll ask Duane next time we talk to him.

we are still waiting for Duane to get back to us on price.

Hi Patrick,

Which in your opinion would out-cut which? Duane's custom VS. Spine serrations on BT?

So does Duane's customs come with M-9 sheath or standard Strider sheath?

i don't think there is a comparative between Duane's and spine serrations on a BT. sort of like apples to oranges. the spine serrations would not work on barbed wire, but probably work better ripping thru the skin of a helicopter.

Duane plans of offer both sheaths, but his nylon one will be in a new pattern. it could be in the new MarPat.

This is another way cool knife. It is interesting to see Duane's style next to Mick's. Very military. This is what I would stick into my M-9 sheath, if I had one. You can see how these two together make such great blades. Sum of the parts and all that sort of rot, old boy. I still like the TAD/Strider reverse tanto.

Cool! Nice stuff Pat and Duane! I see you got some of that Grn/Black G-10 and it looks great. Cool Logo too.

I actually had the ability to fondle one on Friday. But it cost me dinner and copious quantities of dark amber colored liquid, plus hours of listening to Duane before he showed me this knife (in a dark parking lot no less, while glancing nervously about)

Of course, it was worth it.

Nice job, Brother!

Great Pictures Patrick! Thanks for making the effort.

Duane, well done. Its nice to see the two versions side by side. I liked the feel and weight of the prototype that I handled at the Blade Show.

Looking forward to more of your custom work out there.

Warmest wishes,

Oliver
