Precision ground steel bars question.

Hi,

by looking at a supplier catalog, I saw some precision ground steel bars. Are these bars CAST or HOT ROLLED before being precisely ground to a given thickness?

As far as I know steels that are made to be hardened must be hot rolled and annealed. cold rolling would probably set up all kinds of stresses in tool steel and maybe even cause warping or cracks.
