Precision Tomahawks

I have to disagree with Code3's call on this. This is a commercial thread in which Two Hawks most recently mentioned a change in a specific model, his Longhunter. The fact that it is not explicitedly stated that the Longhunter is for sale for X dollars doesn't make it any less commercial. Links pointing folks to Two Hawks Web site with prices are mentioned in its first post. IMO, this belongs back where it came from, in the Knife Maker's For Sale forum.

Two Hawks, I have not forgotten, I still want one of your fine products. Car repairs have set me back. You WILL hear from me again when I am ready.

TWO HAWKS

Please be advised this is a FOR SALE forum, not a general discussion forum.

If you have a specific item for sale, please feel free to list it here.

Any discussions on knives, or blades of any kind need to be directed to the appropriate forum.

I will leave this thread intact for now, but we may move it.

Thank you for your cooperation. :)

Two Hawks.

No problem using this forum to sell your blades, or answer questions about your products with interested purchasers.

We would appreciate any DISCUSSIONS be either directed at a blade discussion forum, or to private email. This helps keep the for sale forums as clutter free as possible.

Thank you for your help.

Two Hawks

I prefer not to delete posts unless absolutely necessary, and as such, we'll just leave this thread alone.

Thanks for your help. :)

Since this thread does not contain any specific products for sale, I'm moving it to the tomahawk discussion forum.

Thanks.

My hawks are precision machined and ground from 6150 vanadium steel with gunstock-finished premium handles, and honed to a razor edge. Several models to choose from, ranging from camp and trapper's tools through professional throwing hawks to military weapons.
These are high-quality tools, not toys.

WEBSITE with PHOTOS, PRICES ETC. is http://www.2hawks.net
EMAIL to me for questions and orders can be accessed from the EMAIL button on this posting or from the website.

See a review of one of the models at:

Dear rkenny - thanks for checking in. I remember you from the now vanished original PRECISION TOMAHAWKS forum thread. You are in my address book of folks who appreciate high quality traditional edged tools.
Best regards,
TWO HAWKS

TO ALL: Just getting this thread set up, so it's pretty much free-form at this point. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST any questions or comments on my hawks and knives and I will try to reply to them as soon as I can.
I was informed by the Forum Moderator that general discussions should be directed to other forum pages. Please restrict your questions and comments to the TWO HAWKS tomahawks and knives advertised, linked, and sold through this medium.
Best regards,
TWO HAWKS

Dear CODE 3:
As a maker of precision tomahawks, I have a LOT OF ITEMS for sale. That's why I am in the Makers / Fixed Blade section. This is also where I answer questions and comments about those products from my customers and potential customers, just as the other makers who post in this area do. Just like I did in the old Exchange / Makers Forum before you changed your format.
That's why I paid BLADE FORUM for a Gold membership so I can sell my products through this forum site.

Mike - No problem. Had already updated the earlier post to discourage general discussion and keep it specific to my products.
To keep the clutter down, if you can delete your posts I'll delete the replies to them and get the thread back on tomahawks and off of administrative stuff.
Best regards,
TWO HAWKS

Dear rkenny-
Thanks for your continued interest. I know about broken stuff - it happens around here all the time (including my body now and then). Running behind or would have answered sooner, and other stuff keeps coming up (like FORUM changes, computer problems ... you name it).
Best regards,

LONGHUNTER hawks shipping after this date will all be the new Third Model. They aren't that much different from the Second Model that a lot of you have bought, but they are slightly slimmer and prettier.

SOME BACKGROUND:
The First Model Longhunter was machined and ground from forgings based on a light Hudson Bay belt hawk originally researched by my friend Cut Finger (Lon Shipe). They were pretty rough in comparison to the present version though a lot nicer than most of the forged-head hawks you see.

The Second Model (last one shipped a couple of weeks ago) was machined and ground to that pattern from the same basic 6150 VSS investment castings used for the larger Voyageur hawks. Obviously, this wasted quite a bit of material and took extra shop time. But dedicated molds are expensive, and I couldn't afford a separate mold for that head. They still turned out well and have been very popular.

When I did the master head for the new mold for the Longhunters I made a couple of subtle changes that I think end up as an even nicer hawk. I cut the head height at the eye by about 1/8 inch (like the smaller Woodsman head) and blended the rest of the lines into that reduced head height. This trimmed a couple of ounces of weight and made a much more refined head, with slimmer and nicer lines throughout, and even better "feel" than the already superbly balanced Second Model.

There is no law that says a tool has to be ugly, and any time I can improve both function and aesthetics I will go for it. I think you'll like the new version even better than the very popular Second Model.

Brian,

I've copied this thread to another area so Spark and other moderators can look it over and make a decision.

I didn't feel it would be right to second guess Mike's call since he made a good faith judgement, so hopefully some resolution will come after Spark and the guys get to mull it over.

Just wanted you to know that it's not being ignored.

All the best.

Thanks, Blues. I'm sure Mike's call was a good faith judgement. However, what I'd like to head off are situations, similar to some you've experienced in Custom, where makers do use a general discussion forum for advertising.

This forum is not for sales. That is for the For Sale area of this site.

You want to post questions and answers, go ahead. But keep the sales confined to the proper area of the site. I would appreciate it if dealers and makers made the effort to follow this policy... set the example for others. Blatant advertising will not be tolerated.

Kevin
