I did a search on this site about the Predator® Bowie and learned a lot.
Some additional questions to help educate me. There are a few versions of the Predator® Bowie.
There is the:
1) Officially Licensed Predator® Bowie with Collector's Plaque - Signature Edition
2) Officially Licensed Predator® Bowie with Collector's Plaque
3) Predator Machete, Black Collector's Plaque,20th Ann. Edition
The last one is supposed to be a Numbered Series 1-10,000 Limited Production Quantity. Does that make a difference? 10,000 seems like a heck of a lot for “limited” release.
Also the Signature Edition has the signature of Dutch Schaeffer. I know the knife maker was Jack Crain. Why would it have the signature of the character?
All the above knives are made by Master Cutlery. However there is a Predator - 20th Anniversary Edition by Swords, LLC that is a bit pricier. I would have thought the Master Cutlery version to be more desirable. But the Swords versions says:
“To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the classic Sci Fi movie Predator, we are proud to offer for the first time ever an officially licensed accurate reproduction of the knife used throughout the Predator movie. Using a screen-used knife for reference, we have been able to recreate this impressive machete style knife exactly as carried by Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major "Dutch" Schaeffer and the rest of his specialist team. A strictly Limited Edition of 10,000 individually numbered pieces worldwide, this amazing knife is 20" long and constructed of the finest materials. It comes complete with a wall plaque display and Certificate of Authenticity.”
Any rhyme or reason on which to buy? Since this knife has been made forever, I know it will not have any collectors value unless it was a Jack Crain original.
Any help would be appreciated.
