I have 2 Battle Mistresses ~ a black coated, black micarta Bushwacker Mistress and a Banned FFBM Bullet Nose.

If you could only keep one, which one would it be and why ?

Hmmm ... whichever you choose I think you need to consider how best to advertise the fact it is for sale .... ;)
 
Just looking for opinions on which one would be better to keep and why !!

Yes, international sales took a bit of a pilorying in recent threads ... for some it seems "mission impossible" ... for others it just seems one way to limit the competition is to make claims about how dangerous or expensive it is ... funny how Busse manage to ship abroad no problem ... or how I have sold back into the US without any problem ... I guess we just manage to consistently "get lucky" ...

However, if your in S.A. try their forum ... but in relation to the "I have a dilemma thread" ... you will have to forgive my leg pulling as I always chuckle that these translate to "can I let you know what I have for sale on the exchange" threads ... there is a lot of them you know if you are on here for any time ... :D

I can handle the leg pulling - I spent 12 years in the UK so my skin got pretty tough. My thread is legitimate - I can't be arsed selling across continents if guys are going to make it so difficult

guys - I'm asking for advice on which is better to hang on to. This is not a sales thread. Other than collector value why should I keep the shiny one?
 
What kind of use, if any, do you plan for the knife?

I love the way the BWM handles for chopping/clearing for the light weight. Yeah, there are others that are better choppers (that FFBM is probably one!), but it's hard to find so much performance without all the weight. It's great having a big knife like that on your belt without it pulling your pants off when you climb up and down hills.

But if you're using it for a big heavy chopper in the back yard, car camping and whatnot... the FFBM might be better for your needs.

I will mainly use while camping and it won't really be of the lightweight kind - 3 kids and a big old tent. Weight/space won't really be an issue. I think because I want a user it may be worth selling the FFBM and keep the BWM (good overall)

I can see where you are coming from but my thread is legitimate. I haven't been able to find any Banned FFBM Bullet noses on the aftermarket so I really don't have the foggyist. I'm not circumventing the rules mate I'm asking a question.

The BANed bullet nose should fetch much more money. So part depends on how much the tax man bill is for.

The BWM is easier to replace.


My advice would be to keep the one you think you will use more.

If you won't be able to bring your self to use the bullet nose sell it.


If I were in your shoes, and the BWM would cover the bill I needed to pay, I would sell that one and keep the Bullet nose.

I bet, with the ban treatment, that sucker is a chopping beast!

That is just my two cents.





PS, it is a legit question he is asking. It often feels like you are trying to pick which kid you can keep and which one you have to tell "sorry" to.

If you decide to sell the Bullet nose, it will be hard to figure out a price. I would probably look at what the other ones (minus the Banning) and start thereabout. It can often be hard to recover money for the customizing. Although, Ban is well respected enough that it might actually help move the price up.

FFBM for a ton of reasons. Food for thought:

Think of INFI as gold. You have almost 10oz more in the FFBM.

I would always keep a custom over a stock. FFBM.

What would I grab in a fight/bear attack/zombie scenario. FFBM

I like a little junk in the trunk! FFBM.

If you have an actual choice keep the cooler one. If you only use it for camping with the kids you need to keep the FFBM. Talk about building fond memories. I'm pretty sure I would remember if my dad had prepped a camp fire with a Banned FFBM. Sweet!!!!

If you aren't trying to make this look like a sale solicitation, then there's no reason to state that you are selling it and why. Would have been simpler to merely ask "If you could only keep one, which...? What are the pros & cons of each?", etc.

Yes, it is tricky hunting for opinions/values while trying to not make it look like you are soliciting a sale. However, it can be done. If you had a Gold membership or higher, that would add leeway, as the forum frowns heavily on those trying to make a buck on the backs of us who do support this site; and so seeing you as Gold, they would already know that you have one of the valid memberships to sell on BF.
IIRC you were once Gold, yes? ...So I'm merely stating a fact, not trying to ride you about it, just pointing out where others are coming from.

If you want this thread left open, I'd appreciate some heavy editing...

As to the Banned bullet nose... Most likely, there are only one or 2 of these as done by Ban. Value can be determined by a.)what you paid, b.)what you want to get for it, and c.)what you can expect to see for it based on facts such as... Nice custom job by Ban, but OTOH, the potential Buyer can no longer expect the knife to have a warranty through Busse, as it has been rather heavily modded outside the Custom Shop, etc.

Personally, if I went through the trouble & expense of having Ban do what he did to the FFBM, I'd keep it and sell the unmodified BWM, knowing that if I regret selling it, I can easily find another as soon as I can afford it.
