well i was gonna post this in shop talk, but figured i wasnt really asking how to do anything, but more of a which is prefered....and besides i dont get over this way much.

ive been making alot of smaller knives, drop points and hunters latley, and wanted to get back to making more big'ens. I got some heavier 01, and figured id make a few from it.

kinda keeping this one simple so it's a guardless knife and has maroon linen micarta on it. The next will have a nicer guard and pommel.

so here is the first and it's 3/16'' 01, and is about 13-14 long. In the photo, i was either gonna remove the blackened clip, or leave the spine straight and grind that as a false/sharp edge.

short clip or long?

full flat grind to spine or half way?

which is more desirable ? or none of them possibly, ive already decided which i like, just wondered what others liked.

im assuming that your refering to the radius forward of the finger choil, not the finger groove....right

so in this knife here would you say maybe i have the plunge to far forward.

maybe started it in that same radius?

btw not trying to plug my work , just looking for some advice on refining my design/style.

my taste these days . Pic #3 , full flat grind , plunge to start say 5/32 to 3/16th in front of choil . No clip , no false edge . Satin finish . Clean and simple . Maybe a few thin thumb grooves just in front of the handle . Thats just what I see .

deffinitely going with the satin finish, and prob. the full flat grind, may have to dissagree and go with the sharpened clip on this one.

NO NO , do it on the next one :). Either way they both will be beautiful . At least make a short clip . Say 3 " .

ok jack,

well see what happens, gonna try and grind this beast tonight. hopefully have some new pics, when the sun comes up!!
