For 115gr FMJ range ammo I find the Winchester white box bulk-packs to be a good bargain but a bit dirty/smoky, do you folks have other suggestions? Thanks!

WWB and plenty of cleaning products. It lets me shoot more, shoot cheaper. I don't like the flash I get but, for general range days it isn't a real problem.

I like Federal better but, it's more expensive. Anyone shoot the Wolf brass cased 9mm? Is it good stuff?

Around here you can get Blazer Brass for about $11 to $12 a 50 round box. WWB is around $26 a 100 box so I stick with Blazer. Never had a problem with any of the Wolf ammo I've used and I've shot one box of Wolf Brass and a lot of Wolf Aluminum and never had a problem.

Used to shoot a lot of HSM ammo in 9mm, .45 ACP, .38 Special and .357 Magnum. It's pretty good stuff and not to expencive depending on the dealer. The dealer up the street doesn't carry much of it but carries lots of Blazer so I go with it instead. Either work great for me.

I have used the PMC hardball with good results in a Sig 226 and an old Belgian Browning Hi-Power. I've shot some Wolf and haven't experienced problems with it. The Blazer also cycles fine for me and provides acceptable accuracy.

I've had no problems shooting the Winchester 115-gr FMJ's from Hell-Mart...I mean Wal-Mart that come 100/bx. My Ruger SR-9 has had no problem feeding them whatsoever. I just make sure I give the barrel a good cleaning after running a box through it.

I shoot the cheapest 9mm I can find provided it's non-corrosive. A principal hobby of mine is long range handgun shooting but I usually limit the 9mm to 200 yards or so. It's a fun round and a good one but gets real 'wimpy' with velocity loss after a hundred yards or so. I also reload 9mm when, as recently, it was IMO too high priced. It is an an easy round to reload and a tough little case which can be reloaded 20 times or more.

I have never shot the Wolfe brass cased, but sure have fired a lot of steel cased ammo from them, in 9 mm, .45 ACP, and 7.62 x 39, with no problems at all. It is dirty, requres more frequent cleaning than most are accustomed to, but it used to be rather inexpensive, with a 1000 round case of 9mm for less than $100, .45 ACP was just over .12 per round, although I think those prices are gone forever now. Fortunately, I did purchase quite a bit of it, so am in no panic yet. I have heard how one should not fire steel cased ammo in Amarican guns, but other than a possible coating of shellac in the chamber which is easily removed, can think of no way it would cause problems. I have fired well in excess of 25 cases of 9mm and .45 ACP, and bought and stored much more than that for when the zombys attack.

I usually go with the WWBox but to be honest I pick up the cheapest brass cased FMJ ammo when I get to the store.

i prefer the cheapest i can find, if there is such a thing as cheap anyway lol, blazer or w-w white box is what i have used most, i got a case of the yellow box remington 147gr FMJ a while back and have been using that, i bet it will cost 2X what i paid for that when it comes time to replace it.

I find American Eagle to be excellent. I take it when accuracy and function are extremely important. But WMWB is great for plinking too.

Grr, ammo in the Seattle area is ridiculously overpriced! No Wal-Mart within 10 miles to exert competitive pressure. I found some Mag-Tech for $14/box which is more than I want to spend but at least there's no shipping cost and it's always been good stuff. They had some HSM too maybe I'll go back and try some . . . thanks for all the input!

I like S&B a lot but dealers are asking $20/box now, it's crazy! Best online deal I can find works out to $14/box but you have to buy 1000, and I don't find it to be better than Magtech.

Haven't tried the Wolf brass - the range I like only permits firing brass-cased ammo, not steel or aluminum, not sure why but that removes some of the options.

Anyone know about the Eastern European brands, Tula and/or Prvi Partizan?

Thanks for continued information

if ya wanna piss off range owners go to picking up brass thats not yours off the ground, i saw 2 men almost come to blows (or possibly worse) over that.

but yeah thats why most dont sell and some dont allow steel/aluminum case,

ya can also get some interesting reasons from the owners why this is, ie "that stuff will blow up" & "that stuffs dangerous" etc.
