I have a Mayo TNT (Stellite 6K) that's my primary EDC (except at work) and I use it for just about everything/anything. Another well known knife maker -- who carries a TNT, himself -- recommended not sharpening the blade, just stropping to touch up the edge. The TNT came, of course, sharp from Tom and after five months of use was still pretty sharp (not really shaving), with only the occasional strop on cardboard.
Last night I was trimming some cut flowers for my wife and got just about nowhere on a thick, woody, stem (cranberry, I think) with my TNT. I think the edge was just too polished. So, afterwords, I gave the edge just a couple of light strokes with a DMT fine diamond hone. Now, the edge is nice and grabby (shaves again, too
).
So, bottom line: I was wondering what sort of edge other folks like to keep on Stellite/Talonite blades?
