Tough choice, both steels are known for ruggedness and impact toughness. I guess in the end, it all boils down to what feels good in your hands and how your wallet reacts.

I've been leaning towards 154CM for both ease of field sharpening and rust-free care. Here it is in a lightweight combo of BM's and Leatherman's tools that I use for day hikes or overnighters. Not sure if there is a big chopper out there in 154CM, or how it would perform chopping, but I have pounded the little fixed grip through some hardwoods with no ill effects.

well you could take fehrman out and abuse it or just use it, and after awhile it is going to need sharpened. Now lets pretend you did not take some heavy duty sharpener with you, you just have a little something. Its going to take a whole lot longer to get back up to par.

the junglas will cut all the same but for much less time before needing sharpened. the good thing is, it only takes a second to get it back.

I have not had a knife in 3v but would like to get a fehrman. I do have a esee 4 (RC4) and a sebenza. It takes literally a few minutes to get the esee4 shaving sharp. the s30v in the sebenza take a lot of use before it needs shown some love, but when it does, even with diamond stones, takes a good while.

I do like 154cm alot in a folder, but never had it in a fixed blade. I remember it held an edge well, and sharpened fairly easy. To tell the truth I liked the 154cm better than my s30v.

my personal opinions in order of favorites
large fixed blades: INFI, CPM3v, SR101, SR77 and 1095
small fixed blades: SR101, D2, INFI and 1095
folders: M4, D2, ZDP189, s30v and 154CM

it really depends on heat treat, but assuming they are all heat treated well those are my favorites
