Premium flipper brands that are thin behind the edge?

I realize that "premium" price ranges vary for everyone, but I'd like to find some new brands of premium folders that are known to be thin behind the edge. Recently, I've picked up two Shiros. Both are ~.016 BTE. I like this!

Other ~$500 - $700 folders I own all seem to be ~.024 or thicker BTE. While this works....I'm not crazy about it. I open letters, kill cardboard, process meat and veggies, etc.. If I find that I need a sharpened prybar for something, well, I have piles of them already.

So, what's out there in the $1K-per-folder category with very thin cutting edges?

I don't know the exact measurements, but my Cheburkov Strizh, Biryukov #12 (both front flipper) and R&H Knives Tasca 2 are all very slicy. Good luck finding a Biryukov #12 though. My Alan Davis is super thin, but probably over $1k at this point.

The Cheburkov Scout is a flipper version of the Strizh/Sparrow I believe and is also thin.

Cool. That's what I'm looking for sir. New names to Google!

I'll check 'em out.

I've been daydreaming of a Hinderer with a crazy slicey regrind.

That's an idea. I have a skinny XM-18 that is pretty slicey for a Hinderer, but it's still more-or-less as thick behind the edge as a current-model CRK.

Who is doing Hinderer regrinds these days? Thought I heard that most of the famous dudes have closed their books or went out of business.

Also considering a Malibu with the same modification.

I can't answer that just yet, haven't gotten that far along. I'm working on my previous daydream of a Chaves Wharncliffe first. lol

If I learn anything when the time comes, I'll pass it on.

My Arno Bernard iMamba was 0.014" bte. Brown Knives FSD Mini was 0.012", but those are hard to come by.

Why not send your thick boys out for regrinds?

I'll look at Bernard again. A fellow on the forum told me that his iMamba was about .028 BTE a month or so ago (IIRC), and I took that info as gospel. :) It sounds like that info is questionable now.

An iMamba has been on my list for a while. Suppose I'll need to try one if I want to know for sure. The polished blade is a big plus IMO.

As for regrinds, I'm not opposed to trying it. But as I posted earlier, I wouldn't know who can do it, nor would I know how much it costs.
