I just received a knife from premium knife supply. It looks like the knives in that seller's ebay store S87 is a good search term.
It is identical to the knife in the pictures. I've searched the forum to see reviews on this seller's knives and haven't seen many. I thought I would share my first impressions.
It's shiny. Very high chrome content. I know these blades are Chinese and advertised as 440c @ 59 rhc. There is no way to verify this that I have access to.
It is sharpened. However, I would qualify it as just barely shaving sharp. It pulls hair more than it pops hair. I enjoy sharpening stuff and I think this will be a fun project to experiment with. The sharpened top edge is noticeably less sharp than the main fillet edge. The top edge bevel is also asymmetrical greater on the left looking down from the top.
Flexibility: This is a larger fillet knife and it is noticeably thicker and taller than my others (dexter russel 7", rapala). The blade is slightly flexible and probably appropriate considering the thickness of the steel. I feel like it is stiffer than I would prefer, however, it is designed for larger fish.
I wanted to try and start making my own handles. These blades are obviously patterned after leech lake knives. I'm from Minnesota and Leech has a very famous reputation.
I'm planning on doing a layered laminate handle in black/gold/grey/white in a walleye-esque color palate. I'll post some pictures and measurements as the project moves along.
Thanks guys.
