Premium Scout vs. SAK Solider

My go to EDC is a Victorinox Solider, I find it to be one of the all around greatest knives around and I love the scout pattern. Lately I've been thinking about upgrading to an A.G. Russell Premium Scout. The only thing keeping me from making the leap, asides saving enough money on an Americorps salary, is the leather punch. I find that very few scout patterns have an awl/leather punch that is anywhere near the quality of the Solider's. How does the Premium Scout's stack up? Is it sharp and effective, or one of those useless pieces of metal like you'd see on a Wenger SAK. Thanks for taking the time to listen to my ramble.

Please don't get me wrong, I love scouts. My first real knife was a "official" scout knife by Camillus with the "Be Prepared" motto moulded into the brown delrin handles.

But I also edc a Victorinox soldier, and I really don't think you can find a better "go to" knife. From day to day, I may vary my other carry from an old stockman to a sodbuster, but the one constant is my soldier. No matter what other knife I have on me, the soldier is the one that never changes.

I would be very surprised if the Russell was built like a Victorinox.

nothing against the russell but the soldier is an awesome, bulletproof knife. and if you lose it or break it you can replace it pretty cheaply. actually go ahead and buy it you need another knife. later, ahgar
