The time has come. I wouldn't buy a Spyderco over $100 dollars because of no blade replacements. I can't wait any longer. With that in mind, what do you guys recommend with these preferences?
As close to $150 or below as possible

Robust enough tip to pry open a pop tab if need be
Blade under 3.5"
I like flippers, but not necessary
Fairly corrosion resistant
Thanks!

Not sure any "premium" spydies fall into your parameters m8. PM2 would probably fit the bill.

yeah the techno is great but pricy'er, the PM2 does have a fine tip, but it is one of the very best spyderco designs.

The phrase "fairly corrosion resistant" can mean different things to different people. For carbon steel fans like myself, I would consider M4 fairly corrosion resistant, whereas stainless steel fans likely would not. So depending on where you land the original Gayle Bradley folder might be a good choice. I'm still not sure I'd use it to pry with, but it could probably handle it.

if you do a little collecting! you will have some blade replacements :)but find my gayle bradley 1) and domino vary hard to beat.

I would also suggest a Gayle Bradley (original) and the Domino. The Domino is a great flipper and a perfect "medium" size knife. Both have amazing fit and finish for the price. You can find them both for under $150 on the exchange quite often. You might check out the Sage 1. Similar to the Domino but not a flipper.

The Domino is awesome. The GB1 is also fantastic. Blade replacement shouldn't be a concern if you use the knife within reasonable limits.

you could always get a mini key chain pry bar...paired with a blade that has a decent grind to it. knives that are like pry bars makes for a poor cutting tool

Don't look at the PM2 sideways or the tip will chip.

Get the Techno and you won't be disappointed

I would suggest a Native 5.. g10/s35v..
I do alot of work with the Native. I don't hesitate to do harder work with it.

Paramilitary 2 for sure. If I'm understanding you correctly your not really prying, more using the blade as a wedge to lift the tab in the absence of fingernails. I've done exactly that before and the PM2 blade tip is more than capable if your smart about it. That said, a mini pry bar is always handy and relieves any temptations to pry with a blade. I carry a 3" titanium widgy bar in my wallet for just that purpose.

I'd go with the Manix 2 with your specs.
More robust tip than some of the earlier suggestions.

Save up for a Slysz Bowie. More fun than a flipper IMHO, and the tip is well designed for use, yet the edge behind the cutting bevel is amazingly thin by production standards.

I'd go for a Domino or a Native or a Manix or a Para 2........doubt you'd kill the tip on a PM2 if you use some common sense.
Joe

Yes def not the para2 for prying I have broken 2 tips, yes I repaired them and honest most people wouldn't know but it's made to slice not pry, I agree with others get a keychain pry bar and a nice ground blade to slice
