Maybe not wilderness, but arguably survival:

My wife got stopped today on one of our WaveRunners. She was going too fast in a no-wake zone. The LEO asked for her registration (in ziplock taped under hatch) and safety whistle (on life vest lanyard), checked for the mandatory fire extinguisher (which actually works), and noted the collapsible emergency paddle, signal flares, tool kit, maps, cell phone in a ziplock, and compressed air horn.

He said that she was obviously concerned about safety based on the equipment and that we would conclude that she must have inadvertently missed the no-wake sign. Gave her a warning.

Guess who is in charge of WaveRunner maintenance and safety in our household? Hint: not my wife.

Glad you got out of a ticket, I bet he doesnt run into alot of people that prepared and was obviously impressed.

Good job bro. Preparation is key.

I hope your wife appreciates the work you put into prep and safety.

Hmm, but what about the Bk9 sitting between the seats of your car when you get pulled over. Is that preparation? lol.

If you have all the other survival gear, and seem prepared for hunting, camping, etc.. As opposed to a big knife, a prybar, a ski mask, and black clothing.

For many years I have carried $100,000 uninsured motorist/medcal auto insurance, which is 5 times the mandatory $20,000 in Alabama. Two times I have been asked for proof of insurance at license check stops, and both times the courtesy level of the State Troopers has increased noticeably after they examine my proof of insurance. Preparation is appreciated by those in the know.

You forgot the handcuffs, bandana, and a half empty bottle of chloroform.:D

Certainly shows that being prepared matters. And hats off to the LEO for recognizing it and applying judgement reasonable for the situation. Fred
