Prepping for a Bonfire with the NMFBM

I've got over 20 pallets stacked up out back waiting to be burned, so chopping would really isn't all that needed tonight, but there was a lot of fallen trees from recent storms, so I figured i'd try out my NMFBM on them now that I put an edge back on her.

I will say that the NMFBM is my favorite Busse knife out of all i've owned.

After a little hot soapy water, not too bad.. just some light scratching.

Nice,,,Im suprised on how much the blade cleaned up,,my CG didnt look that pretty after beating on it.
 
Looking good! The NMFBM is my favorite also! Thanks for the pictures of the casualties. I like to see NMFBM's getting USED ;)

Hey take some pics of the bonfire and the knives please.
There is nothing like being outside burning wood and using your blades to chop the wood that feeds the fire.

NMFBM is one that I'll never sell. It is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to a choppa!

Funny thing is that I knew it would be amazing, but took me a while to buster-hymen. :eek: Just couldn't bring myself to bash perfection in a blade. But alas, I couldn't help myself and haven't looked back since. :cool:

The fire is getting HIGH. Keep the pallets piling on, MUST GET BIGGER.

One good thing about having a house in the middle of nowhere.. I can pretty much do what I want, like epic bonfires and throwing hawks in the middle of the night. :D

Anybody here ever make a good comparison between the NMFBM and NMFFBM as far as chopping ability. I thought I remember somebody saying that the NMFFBM might not have been as good a chopper due to excessive thickness. Thoughts? GREAT bonfire, btw. :)

There is no NMFFBM.

There is the NMFBM and NMFBMLE

There is also the FFBM and FBM and the FBMLE

The NMFBM IMO is a superior knife to the FFBM, the FBM, and the FBMLE having owned all of them.

It chops better, batons better (Convex primary grind is smoother than saber ground when it comes to batoning), and handles like a dream for a blade its size.

The FBMLE handles a little better than the FFBM, however at nearly the same thickness it is extremely handle heavy as its FFG compared to the saber ground FFBM losing some ground in the chopping department.
 
Thanks, 230. Yeah, I meant the FFBM. So the edge grind is actually different between the NBFBM and the FBM, eh? Interesting. Whichever has the convex primary grind is what I'd love to have. :)

By primary grind i'm refering to the blade grind, not the edge grind. The NMFBM has a convex grind with a (kind of)convex edge that can be blended into an effective zero edge with a tiny bit of work. The FFBM has a saber grind with a v edge (although most busses almost seem to be slack belt sharpened and have a slight convex to them).

The NMFBM is the superior knife/chopper IMO after extensive use/testing.
 
Man Mike thats one big fire, it looks like your chairs are kind of close. Did they melt? :D You got your NMFBM looking good bro. :thumbup:
