Could someone help me out here. I came across a what was presented as a preproduction crosslock. I was told it never went into production. It has all stainless handles that have holes in them. It is mint. What I am looking for is any information, I know nothing about crosslocks how long have they been around? , numbers made, value (I realize this is relative).
Thanks for the help

I believe it was a limited production run; along with a crosslock with a damascus blade and one with an aluminum handle.

Mike,
Back in 1997 we offered three Crosslocks with metal sides. One was aluminum, the 180AA, one was stainless with an ats-34 blade, the 180EM, and one was Damascus, the 180DM. There were only about 20 of the 180DM made as samples. They were going to have to retail for about $500 so we canned that one. Very rare!
The 180AA-retail was $158, we made 331
The 180EM-retail was $196, we made 230
They were all supposed to be engraved "Limited Production 1997" but they were so hot at the time that they forgot on the first batch. I caught the mistake and had them engrave the rest. In the confusion, some may have been engraved with something else. Hard to say how many are engraved and how many are not. Easy to say that any of these Crosslocks is an awesome find!
