Hello Gentlemen, this time showing pictures of a presentation bowie.
The request originated from a bowie of similar design in a book published so the client wanted and suggested doing something similar, a proposal that will gladly accept.
It is a classic English style bowie knife although all of ladder pattern damascus. All the pieces came from the same billet of W1 and 15n20. Structurally consists of hidden tang blade, guards, collar and false frame, the frame is welded to the hidden tang and then placing the other two pieces in place in the frame.
One detail to consider is the collar which is not made from a thick piece of damascus but four pieces of the same ladder that the whole body welded to each other, so that when looking at the spine show that the sinusoidal lines continuous across the entire structure of the knife.
The handle assembly is complex, since it is first necessary to reveal the damascus pattern in the blade, guards and collar, after mounting the scales and adjust to the frame and the collar and then dismount to reveal the damascus pattern in frame and the collar worked in the format and again set the scales in the correct position that matches perfectly with frame.
Finally comes the assembly of the scales of ivory. Pins are riveted gold on request.
It is complemented by a classic leather sheath with silver hardware made by David Saco.
Finally has a box of solid wood, veneered in cohiue with black velvet interior.
Hope you enjoy the photos. Thanks for looking.
