Such wealth of beautiful cutlery jb gives me inspiration. Bravo. Thank you for these spellbinding photos.
Sidebar: I see T. Roosevelt and I drift back to a trek many years ago now with my young number son, who was seven at the time, thru Yellostone's Shoshone Geyser Basin. You can explore off trail to your heart's content in this remote one square mile geyser extravaganza. He found what looked like an ancient log cabin in the last stages of turning to dust. Nearby he found, deeply sunken into the earth, this old bottle. We imagined that it was once a whiskey bottle used by TR on his visit to this basin. Unfortunately, it was empty except for detritus. Strong drink can be welcome in high lonesome places. We showed it to rangers who visited in flat-water kayaks and they wanted to have it to dispose. I had read the rules and knew that we could remove found refuse so we declined to hand it over and took it home. We stopped at an antique dealer in Jackson Hole, on the way out, and was told that it was not blown but machine made since two halves were joined (notice the seam). It was fun to imagine the Rough Rider enjoying what we were enjoying. It now aids in re-creating that trip of a lifetime. I thought you might want to see it so here are links.
What a heart warming story, you do have a way with words. I can see you and your son in my mind, from your long past journey into the wild America, thanks for sharing. Also, the color in that glass from days long ago is simply beautiful.
