I just got a new presidio 2. The cam in the blade that the axis pin moves on has an uneven spot on it and this makes for a rough point on opening and closing. Pic attached . Is this normal and can it be fixed? The uneven spot is to the right of the axis pin.
Arrows added to show uneven ground spot.

I don't see a rough point on the blade tang if that's what you are saying; only some black gunk kind of thing which looks like the coating stuff from the axis bar. Use some rubbing alcohol to clean up to see if it helps.

I added two arrows to show the uneven ground spot. The black mark/line is there because the axis pin is only making contact along that black line.

I can see what your mentioning and how it is causing issues with opening and closing. I'd imagine if the place you got it from won't handle the issue, Benchmade will. Looks like a QC issue for sure.

i’ve never had this problem myself, but I have heard of others sanding and polishing the blade tang to remove routh spots.

Ok,
I inspected that thing at the store but missed this issue. I'll have to see if they will swap it out on monday but I doubt it. I let BM know and maybe they can help.
I don't really have equipment here at home to machine that area to a uniform contour.

Hi Tommy, is that actually a poorly machined area and not some sort of gunk ?

Not gunk,Not poorly machined, the axis lock bar will float because of spring tension and will find and settle where it will. the coating on the axis bar is wearing off because it it not inherent in the base metal. not an issue other than visual. it will feel rough until it wears off and wears in. use it and when it goes away it will be buttery smooth

Not to downplay the issue at all, but I have found that "trouble child" Benchmade's typically "fix" themselves over time.

As an example, all of my "off centered" Benchmade blades somehow are now centered without me fiddling with them. Must be the Benchmade elves that fix them when I leave them alone.

It is a poorly machined area. IT's not gunk. I'm kinda mad at myself for not noticing at the store. Everything else was perfect.
It makes you wonder how the QC inspection at Benchmade didn't notice it. I'm glad your local retailer did the right thing. :)

Received the full size cf elite presidio II. It is a good knife. Action is a bit tight but I'm sure it will break in. This will serve as a large size Benchmade in my collection.

I have had a Presidio II 570-01 with the CF elite scales for about a month now. The action continues to improve. The mass of the blade helps with the smoothness of the action also. Great knife IMHO
