 I recently acquired a knife from a relatives estate that belonged to my great grandfather that is a press button knife company knife. It is shaped like a J with scroll work on the handle. It is of a silver color almost like an aluminum. It is a switchblade with what i call three pointed tongs on the end of the curved blade. I was told that it was a sailors knife and many other things as a child and I am curious as to its use and value. I do not have any pics on my computer at this time but i can get them very soon. The knife is in good shape overall except the discoloring of the blade. Please feel free to contact me directly at slambuilders@yahoo.com if you can help in any way. Thank you.

Hello I am attaching some pics and some information which may help. It should be noted that this knife while often referred as the Civil war one armed veterans knife, these actually were not made until around 1900 however the straight and non automatic versions have been around much longer. The advantages of this pattern for a person with one arm are obvious. Your knife is indeed embossed aluminum. These are quite in demand by collectors. The ones with tang markings for the prostetic companies that they were made ( contracted from Press Button a division of Walden knife.) for. bring considerably more that the ones marked Press Button. If you need more information please feel free to email me. Also the prices quoted in the book were retail in 2001. Still these particular knives have maintained there value. I hope this helps LT

Thanks to everyone who has helped me find information on this knife. It was very informative. You guys are great and wish the best to all of you. Thanks LEB
