How much undersize may a hole be to press fit a .125 damascus rod thru a damascus blade .125? Both are 1085 and 15N20? I need to purchase reamer so I don't want to experiment too much $$$$. Thanks. I have a small arbor press and want this dowel to act as a ambidexterous thumb stud.

.0002 is a typical press fit for steel components, .0005 would be maximum.

john ,if it were me i would drill approx. .010 to .015 under size and ream .124,
try it on a scrap piece of steel,to make sure your reamer cuts properly, Tracy
