Would appreciate some input on a press for stamping my blades. Finally forked over the money to get a name stamp and need a press that will fulfill its purpose. I looked at harbor freights presses and was not impressed w/ the poor(IMO) quality. The 10 ton benchtop from Grizzly seem to be exactly what im looking for. I dont own a welder so I cannot make my own(nor do I want to). Any opinons/thoughts are apprecaited.

You know, Griz products aren't bad...for something you're using all day like a main belt grinder, no. For something you use now and then, you really get decent functionality for your money. I'm just now wearing out a $200 Grizzly drill press that I got almost ten years ago- it never was a great unit, but I sure made a lot of money with it!
When looking at presses, I find it interesting to compare what you can do with a good solid hammer blow vs. a press. Haven't done the math, but it takes multiple tonnage in press rating to equal a good whack with a 1 kg hammer. Perhaps a guillotine tool with a clamp would work for stamping if you have one? If you don't, it's probably a wash between the guillotine setup and the press...you still need a guide for the stamp to use it with the press. If you forge a lot, a good guillotine setup is a really nice thing to have, and you can set it up for the stamp and use it in any press.
For me, after working for hours on a blade, the last thing I want to do is whack it, especially in a high stress area...I laser mark mine, for now.

I think a hydraulic has so much more control than a BFH

You were looking at this?

If you will notice, nothing about that is welded either.

If you are not satisfied with Grizzly, you can either build your own, or pay more for a different one.

If you google photos of hydraulic bottle press, and similar terms, you can find hundreds of photos- including those make with just pipe, plates and threaded rod.

I took some pictures of my fixture today, but could not find this thread earlier to post the pictures. I will show you what I made and seems to work well for me.
