Presser foot impressions

Does anyone have advice on how to alleviate impressions caused by the presser foot? I'm finally getting the hang of my new machine (Cobra 3) and have a few sheaths I need to get done this week...but am concerned with the imprint being left on my practice leather. I've adjusted the pressure on the foot about as much as I can......so not sure where to go or what to do next. Thanks much!

If you are SURE the presser foot is adjusted properly then you can literally erase the marks by wetting the area adjacent to the stitches and bone the marks away and then let it dry. You can occasionally just flex the wet leather and the marks will disappear.

The presser foot pressure should have been adjusted by the dealer you got the machine from and it normally does not need to be tinkered with. The same is generally true for the thread tension. Most of the problems with presser foot and thread tension are the result of novice adjustments.......but we all do it, or did it so live and learn. Get the perfect adjustments back and then kind of leave them alone.

I did tinker with adjustments that surely were right before I moved them.......

I will try to tinker them back into place and use the tricks you mention above if needed. As always, thanks for the help!

My Class 4 has always left a light presser foot impression in veg tan, usually not exotics as they are inherently tougher, less impressionable hides. Paul gives you good advice, you can bone your impressions out by slightly wetting the area, sometimes you can even do it dry. I use a tool that works great from Barry King Tools he calls "Molders" and can be found here: http://www.barrykingtools.com/handtools.htm#

Thanks for the advice on the Molder tools--I used my wooden hand burnishing tool on this one, but the molder looks like it would work better.
