For all you home stabilizer guys. If you want to build a pressure pot to let the woods and etc. dry in Harbor Freight has on sale a 2 1/2 gallon pressure paint tank for $39.99 was $79.99. It is really easy to convert. Item#93119-1CDB.

George I have been thinking about using a pressure canner to make a containter to stablize wood with.and was wondering if anyone else has tried one .I do belive it should work.I know that it will hold up to 15# of presure becacse i have canned with it before, and now that I have moved to the city I won't be canning anymore.

The paint tank is rated to 70 psi. I tried a old pressure cooker once and it leaked and I plugged the pressure release valve too.

Pressure or Vacuum? some things that will hold pressure won't hold vacuum and vice-versa

That tank will hold vacuum fine. Pump it down and close the valve and it's still at the same negative pressure two days later.

The problem I had with it is the pressure side. It says it will hold 70 PSI but everytime I've tried pumping it up that high the gasket pooches out the side.

I've had quite a bit of experience with pressure tanks at work, so I don't necessarily think it's me. A different gasket may provide better results.

Just my $.02
