....is just what I received. Been doing some selling and trading and this is the latest acquisition. It is a Crawford folding tanto. It has a 4.0" blade and a 5.5" handle for a oal of 9.5".......qualifies as MEGA to me :D . Blade is a satin finished 154CM with blasted .125" (1/8")titanium handles. It is of the liner lock variety with the lock nested into the handle for secure lockup. Action is very smooth, and overall ergos are very nice. The knife is thin enough to carry flat in my right front pocket but at the same time it is beefy enough to give a good hand grip. It actually matches my large framelock KFF for flatness and ease of carry.

The tanto blade shape is not a favorite of mine yet I keep ending up with a tanto or two. The MT, Hinderer, and a couple others are my favorite style of this blade shape. Now I'll add in Pat Crawford, since his style seems to have more belly than any of the others. It also has a nice false edge on top and the full blade thickness (.160") runs out until the last 1/3" where it tapers to a needle point. Both edges are sharp enough to pop hair.

So, just wanted to get on and show my newest "toy" to the rest of you knife knuts!!

I'm not a big fan of Americanized tantos, but there's a few that I like. Ironically, these are the ones that have some "traditional" mixed in with them (ie: curves). I like this one a lot. Nice aquisition.

Got it from Arizona Custom Knives. I guess it was preowned for the price I paid, but if it was it, it definately was not used as it is as close to mint as anything I've seen!!

I'm like you Planterz in that few tantos appeal, but again something about this one caught my attention.

Tantos that follow the lum patter (upward sweep) are my faves
Lums are gorgeous. I especially like the front tip grind, and the way it sweeps out from the hollow grind of the rest of the blade. So sexy.

I also like Microtech's tanto blades, like on the SOCOM or UT-6 tantos. The slight curve makes them so much more attractive (and useful I imagine, I don't own one yet).

Looks like the handle off a Recon or a Shark. Crawford might make one if you request. I also like Camillus's Tanto Dominator and Cold Steel's tantos, the ones that made em famous

I've always liked that blade style. Here's a pic of one sold some time in the past at Steel Addiction that caught my eye.

That one was just sold this past week. I had enquired about it as I wanted to purchase but someone had beaten me to it. It was then that I found the one I have. Pretty odd to have two Crawford Tantos pop up that close together.

Add me to the list of those not all that fond of tantos as typically done these days. This a marvelous exception though (gotta cop to liking the Lums as well). That thumb ramp looks fantastic, but it also looks a little sharp, how's it feel in use?

It's fairly comfortable as long as you don't extend your thumb over the edge of it. The top is cross hatched and then has several horizontal grooves in it and after it is all said and done the ramp works out well.
