Pretty new handle!

I friend of mine is a luthier (guitar maker) and some time ago I had a simple Svord peasant knife friction folder that was just begging for an upgraded handle. Since I’ll never be able to afford a custom guitar, I asked him to do the knife handle for me and, after a little collaboration session discussing designs and wood choices, I left him to do his thing.

Fast forward to Friday when I went over to test drive a couple of guitars and he handed me my completed knife! Gorgeous, huh!? I just love looking at it now when I have to pull it out. Trouble is, now I think the BLADE needs an upgrade!

Wow that came out nice. What are all the woods that you decided on. I can see flamed maple, rosewood, maybe wenge, purpleheart and mahogany? I'm a little bit of a wood nerd

What is your buddy's name, i'd love to check out his work. Does he do basses as well?

It's been a while since we picked all the woods, so I forget most of them, but I think you got most if not all of them. We used his marquetry that he uses to create the rosettes for the guitars for the triangle shape.

No, no basses, and classical nylon string instruments only, though he repairs about anything with strings. Here's his website: http://www.desmondguitars.com/newindex.php

It's not really up to date. He does about 4 guitars a year and they are INCREDIBLE! Loud and punchy, yet even tone throughout the strings. We were comparing some really impressive other guitar makers' instruments to his the other day (a Fleta, a Hauser, a Bouchet and a Friederich) and his was right up there.

Beautiful work. I love the Svord Peasant, and wish there was a more bustling aftermarket in fun handles.

Really nice work! I recently got a Peasant and a Mini Peasant. I have been trying to figure out how I would like to fashion my own wooden scales. I am thinking something a little more utilitarian, but that is inspiration for sure!
