after all the praise knives such as sanrenmu, enlan, ganzo etc etc have been getting on the forums/youtube i managed to get a hold of 90% of the popular models last year. i either sold or gifted away all of them as they never really did it for me. i never really carried or cared for them over other sub $50 offerings from kershaw, spyderco, buck etc. one of the last models i sold was the enlan el-01a. i always felt this knife had potential and was an excellent flipper for the money. i held on to it for awhile but eventually got bored of it and found it a new home (my coworker is the proud new owner). fast forward months later, i started to see videos by a youtuber by the name of srjoben doing wave and choil modifications to this knife. when he acid etched it i knew i had to have this knife again

of the chinese knives the enlan el-01 and el-02 knives were my favorites. the man gripes with these were the stupid pivots (and extremely stiff omega springs on the el-02). srjoben cut a notch into it so youre able to use a flat head or dime and upgraded the nylon washer with a pb one. besides the extremely cool pox pattern acid etching job he did, he also jimped the spine and contoured the flipper tang. the new tang shape allows for a more comfortable index finger position when gripping the knife (very well though out). finally my favorite mod was the added choil (it could be a bit bigger but i have fat fingers). i often find the need to choke up really high on my knives for more control and detail work. this really sweetened the knife and turned it into what i feel is the real poor mans hinderer haha.
for those that own this model, all of these mods can be done by yourself and he even provides several tutorials on youtube (or you can have him do it for a very reasonable fee). i feel they really transform the enlan el-01 into a great edc... dont think i'll be selling or trading this one anymore
