Price Advice

I hope that this is not an inappropriate inquiry, but I need some advice. Last Christmas (2010), I purchased a numbered Emerson "Christmas" Roadhouse with Brown scales (scales were described as Dark Earth..., but the box reads brown). At the time, the price was not an issue for me as I bought the knife for myself for Christmas. The knife is still NIB and has not been carried or used in any way. My tastes have changed, however, and I was considering listing the knife for sale. I certainly don't expect to recoup all of my money, but I don't know enough about Emerson knives to price it fairly. Do Christmas knives from the past carry any premium??? Do the colored scales make the knife more valuable??? What is a fair price for the knife I have described in NIB condition??? Thanks, in advance, for the help.:)

Send me a PM or VM if you don't want to post in this thread. I'm just looking for an honest answer / opinion...., I'm NOT trying to "start anything." I am too OLD for DRAMA!!!:D

Well here's my opinion. I don't remember Roadhouse's as a limited edition Christmas knife, certainly my fault I missed that.
If all your looking for is to sell it out of your collection, then it is certainly worth the price you paid plus shipping to whoever is interested in buying.
All Emerson "limited edition" knives grow in value to Emerson collectors, so there are certain people who would be willing to pay more than you did for it.
Finally, it's easyer to lower the price than try to raise it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would be interested but I've spent too much on knives this year already and I have a Roadhouse in my collection.

Been trying to get in touch with you about the emerson.

PS your email is disabled and I can't access your PM.

You will see a few folks on ebay trying to sell the colored Christmas editions for $700 or more and they have been trying to sell them since last Christmas at those prices. I see most of those going for $250-$400 depending on the model and the "right buyer". In reality the colored handle isn't worth more than the regular production version but to many certain colors are worth the higher price of admission.

Any limited run knife is inherently more valuable. However, some are more sought after than others...

Depends on how badly you wish to sell it. If you are not in a hurry, ask a high price and you can haggle down if it doesn't sell. If you need to sell it quick, ask slightly more than the standard model sells for.
