Guys Im trying to get a feel for what a #25 little giant sells for and what a fair price would be. This one is set up with a brake and a 220 single phase motor excellent shape. I live on an island in puget sound and sombady about 5 miles down the road is storing one in a buddies garage and is now ready to part with it. I was curious what the market bares. thats guys, robert m.

Rebuild condition; $500-1000
Good shape: $1000-1500
Excellent shape, no repairs necessary, modified for better performance:
$1700-2500

These are prices I have observed here in the Midwest.
Depends on who has, and how much they've checked on pricing.

Good luck. I keep looking for that "good deal" on one.

I think Fitz is pretty much on track. People that have them seem to know what they are worth and want the big money. But, there are still good deals out there. I was lucky to pick one up pretty cheap. But to tell you the truth, I think it was easier for me to find that power hammer than to find my anvil.

Good luck on getting that one. I had to drive 600 miles round trip(twice) to get mine, sure would be nice to find one that is 5 miles away!

The guy doing the forging demonstration had anvils for sale in his trailer. Up to 175 lbs. Wish I had had the money (since I drove to Blade).

man, I am happy for you, J.! great deal, uncommon find! enjoy.

Damn J. you did good! I think you did better than me. Mine is an old style, made in 1922. I got the LG, a champion blower, and a blowhorn stake anvil for $350. I gave the stake anvil to my buddy for driving with me and sold the blower for $80.

It took me a couple months to clean her up and I replaced the spring (just for safety), the toggle arm nuckles (made both sides adjustable), replaced the t-bolt things that attach the ram to the toggle arms, and had two new sets of dies made. So I think I got about $600 into her, not counting the motor I had lying around.

Here is an ok pic of it. I did not mount it to the floor or anything, she is just bolted to some 4x4's.

Thanks guys. I did luck out. I got a gas forge with it too that I don't really need. I figured I'd sell that to help get myself the drawing die. I just have to pick it up.

J. You need at least 2 forges if you plan on getting into Mokumne. I have one for welding and one for forging and Mokumne.

I don't know George this is a weird forge. It's about the size of a small table maybe 3 1/2' x 2' with a metal hood and a long thin slot. The top is covered with fire bricks. It probably weighs about 200 lbs. plus. The slot runs down the side about the length of the table but, is only about 1 1/2" wide. The fella who had it was using it to heat (and the hammer to cut) large masondry bolts.

I use one forge for everything I do. Forging, damascus, and mokume. I have not had any problems with contamination from doing mokume in the same forge as everything else. If I had more room, I would do what I.G. said. One for forging and mokume, and one for welding.

Right now I am using some SS sheet (about 0.040) to line the bottom of my forge. When I am done welding, I can just pull that sheet out and then continue to work the billet to shape.

Once that forge floor gets boogered up with flux, it is a major PITA to do anything else but weld. Trust me, it isn't fun.
