Hello, I am looking into purchasing a Buck/Strider/Tarani Police knife - the newer version with ATS-34 BOS, FRN scales, and riveted construction. This person is offering it for $200.

I understand that, while this knife was in production, the suggested retail price was about $110. But, now
that it is discontinued, it is becoming harder to find. So, is it worth the $200? And I'm not talking about
collector's value, I mean in terms of the materials and construction. And, if not, what is it worth? I've
always wanted a Strider, but I'm not gonna dish out 450+ big ones for an SMF. This is the absolute most
I would ever pay, and only if it is totally worth it. I trust that there are some Strider experts here that can give me some advice.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Plain edge with screwed construction might be worth it, but definitely not that one. If you're itching for a tough knife that was designed by Strider and you've got $200 to spend...get yourself a new ZT0300.

or a 302 !

Not only could you get a brand new zt for that much, if you just hold off a little while and save up another 100 you can get a real deal used sng, which will not disappoint you. That knife you're looking at is worth what it used to go for, $90, and not a bit more. That $200 price tag is the new collectors price :)

I used to have one of these... Sold it for $150... LITTLE did i know i could of gotten upwards of $200+ ... at most $300 (ive seen it sell for)... reason being is because it is sought after.. and they are discontinued..

UGLY blade though... and has a cheap feeling.. =/

Thank you all for your advice. I was actually planning on getting a ZT0350 after I bought this one, but I think I'm just gonna go all the way and get a 300

From practical point of view I am not impressed with this knife. The worst part from my point of view are liners. The linerlock looks ridiculous because of the liner/blade dis-balance. If you could only swap liners with Benchmade Vex - there it is just taken to another extreme.
The blade grind is quite low for that thickness - so it cuts like brick.
The handle is surprisingly comfortable. But I would not pay 200 bucks just for comfortable handle - I can make it myself from a piece of plywood with a jig saw. This knife was discontinued for a good reason.

Yeah, and it does not get scratched as easily as 450+ Strider... so it will never look like you have beaten s$1t out of it after you have just sharpened couple of pencils... :)

I've had one and sold it for $100. To be honest with you I wouldn't buy one unless it was in the $50 price range.
