Hi Dan-

I think my email system still doesn't like your address or something, I had a quick question-

I was wondering how much a blade blank costs right now for the bushcrafter in 3V?

Didn't know how to set that up on the order tracker.

Thanks for any info.

I'm not dan but recall the price being around 40-50 dollars.

Check the preorder thread.

Yeah but that all relates to if it is / was a mid-tech run or a custom order ???

I still don't understand all that...... maybe Dan will sort it out for us..... cause I had asked kinda the same question in an email... no answer yet... he has been under the weather I understand.

Hope you are feeling better Dan ....... :thumbup:

Yes, the blank is heat-treated.

Standard pricing is $60 in O1, $80 in 3V - and that's fully finished.

If you just want one to glue-up yourself = $50 (O1)

Shoot me an email/PM when ready.

Thanks!

Dan

Dan,
I admit I am kind of slow at times......... :D ..... BUT...

Please explain the difference between what you said in the quote above :

"Fully finished". = _____________

"Glue up yourself". = ______________
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
glue-up yourself means, you don't want the edges finished - you plan on doing that yourself. Also, you don't care what the tang looks like.
fully finished - means fully finished - skeletonized knife. Meant to be handle-free. :D
Had to make an edit guys....the $50 price is O1. :thumbup:
I'm still a little unclear. :o Sorry...
So the difference is solely in the condition of the tang? I want to have a different handle put on....but don't really want to do anything else to it.
On a skeletonized knife, I make the entire knife "presentable". I sand/etch/buff/etc the blade as well as the handle. I finish all the way around the spine and round the corners. Also, the holes drilled in the tang are finished out and are presentable (have a pattern or symmetry).
If you just want a blank to put your own handle on.....then there's no need to do any of the above. Make sense?
That way, I can offer it cheaper.
Got it. :thumbup: Thanks Dan.
Now I understand....... :thumbup:
I will make a change on the Order Tracker for my CPM S30V "blank"...
...................that is what I wanted.... not "skeletonized"
Thanks Dan...... ;)
So on the blank, is the edge not sharpened/fully ground? Or is that still done, but the rest just not 'perfected'?
fully ground, mostly sharp - ready for final honing. :thumbup:
Has anyone ordered one of these yet using the order tracker? If so, how did you do it. I'm not seeing anyway to specify a blank. thx!
Just put in "skeletonized" and let me know in the comments that you want it "ready to glue-up"
:thumbup:
