i've never been to one and was curious on the prices for the knives, are they fair...overprised? i'm looking to buy a bm 750...will i have any luck? thanx for any replies.....

I've gone to one show, the Contemporary Metal Werk (with an e) Expo in Bellevue, WA about a month ago. It was a very small show, with primarily custom makers. I didn't really see any production models, except for a few custom collab. Sypdercos (Bob Lum, Jess Horn, D'Alton Holder were there). In my opinion, if you want the best price, you're best bet would be through one of the wonderful online dealers represented here on the forum.
However, I could be wrong. Just keep your eyes peeled and you'll find that great deal!

Hi Shawn,

Prices are generally reasonable, but some are very good. I could kick myself for passing up a $700 damascus bladed Halo 2.

The gun show they have here in NorthWest Washington, has quite a few knife dealers, and private sellers of knives. If you know what going retail is, and look around, there's a good chance that you could find the knife you want at a lesser cost. But be careful, as you could be over charged also. I have found that it pays to get all information possible about the knife you want before buying. Thats one of the reasons I hang out on this forum. I hope this helps !

Hello,

here in Spokane,Wa. we have numerous Gun shows and there is always alot of dealers offering competitive prices,,, the places you want to watch out for are like the Cutlery stores in Shopping Mall`s , Almost always there Prices are markedly Higher.

Shawn, I would also suggest that you check with several of the BF advertisers for production knives like the BM. Not only will you get a good price, but will also have a place to send it if something should go wrong.Definitely comparison shop among the suppliers, as there is often significant price variation on a particular knife. You will find your blade at a good discount off of retail. Good luck!

Prices at most Gun/knife shows I've been to are less than those at retail shops. Also, there are numerous used items to look at.

thanx for the help people,i checked several internet sites on the bm 750 they ranged from 95 to 110 plus shipping. went to the show and picked one up for 98 so i did pretty good!

Just got back from the Chesapeake show in Maryland- got a mini-socom for $120, which I think is pretty good. Saw sebenzas for about $35 off retail (small ones). If you know what you want and the going prices, it can be a good place to shop. As to custom stuff, I saw things I've never seen pictures of. It was amazing. Many of the "Knife Gods" talked about on this board were there, live and talking. Some amazing prices, too, although probably worth them. Too much for me right now. The BM display was complete but I thought the several where I knew the internet prices were $10 high or so. Plus you have sales tax here. If memory serves, your 750 was around $105.
