I'm looking at buying these pieces over the next few years. I've been looking at makers sites, and online, but I wanted to throw out this question. Best price for these? Should I get these? Looking for something for EDC, fishing, camping, hiking. Short blades for hiking, big blades for camping, folders for EDC. Thanks.

My customs want list is growing by leaps and bounds. Looking first primarily for up and coming makers, that are offering well made knives at low prices. Most of the above are not even beginners, and the few who are are very good, but I can dream.

Buy one of Dan Farr's knives, you'll love it. I have one and use it every once in a while, it actually makes me wish I was a hunter :). You might have a hard time finding one though, but if you do, buy it- you'll be glad you did.

Don't have much time at the moment, but for now, I do know that many of Winkler's high-end bowies are getting $2,000-$2500 these days. Worth it if you like his style, which I do. :) I would add a Fogg Shiv, Don Hanson bowie and anything by Bailey Bradshaw to the list, oh, and of course a TnT. :)

I would get a Bill Buxton EDC as well. Awesome everyday/every activity fixed blade.

I'm with Megalobyte about Winkler. Winkler has become my favorite and I do own some and hope to get a few more in the future. :D

Bob Dozier drop point hunter-Best bet is the Forums, in Customs for sale, they show up fairly frequently.$225-$275, depending
Bud Nealy Cave Bear, Pesh Kabz-Kinda scarce on the aftermarket, but can still be found, ordering from Bud hisself might be the way to go. Around $300-$375
Busse Leaner Meaner Street-No idea
Chiro75 skinner-E-mail or PM him your wishes, he really doesn't take orders but is amenable to discussion. I have a nice TGP from him. Good work, inexpensive. Around $200 or less.
Dan Farr bowie, drop point hunter, light weight hunter-The ONLY way to get a Farr is at a show, beating out the other 50 or so interested buyers, or from Les Robertson. I sold one after Blade to a very happy collector. Discounts do not exist, but to get one from Dan hisself is very reasonable. Around $500-$600.
Daniel Winkler frontier bowie-What everyone else said, Big $$.
Greg Lightfoot Nightstrike 6, Catchdog-No idea
Lucas Burnley Evolution-No idea.
Robert Terzuola ATCF grey fighter linerlock-Available from time to time on the Customs for sale Forum, lowest I have seen is around $425.
Simonich Crowfoot-These come up rom time to time, no idea what a reasonable price is for one.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Why thank you kind sir. :)

I dug around on my computer and found a pic of what I think is a Winkler bowie you own, and I once wanted to buy from you? Did I say "once wanted"? You have my email address... :)

I'll also attach a pic of another Winkler bowie that's in the same folder, I don't think it's yours also, if so, then we really have to talk :). Yes, I admit, any time I see a knife I really like, anywhere at any time, I tuck the pics away on my computer. :)

I too am a fan of Daniels knives. I just picked up this Bowie, and have 2 more ordered. It's amazing how the combination of Daniels knife and Karens sheath work together to create a sense of an historical artifact. Here's my "Winkler" drawer...looks like I'll need another drawer!

Oh man, you guys are killing me! I don't have two grand to spend on a knife! His pieces are beautiful. I'm guessing not many other makers do work like his.

If you ever have a Daniel Winkler knife you have got a masterpiece. I could be in quicksand with one of his knives in my hand ( Karen Shooks' sheathwork is awesome that accompany his work ) and I may go down but I'll throw that knife to safety...probably to Geno. Don't pass on a Winkler, that's money in the bank plus a pleasure to behold. :D Cavelady

Do the Winkler owners here actually use their Winkler knives?

I don't because the one's I own are Damascus and are in my collection and they are pretty expensive to make a user out of, IMO. I'm not rich, so they sit in my safe. :D I don't think a big Bowie will make a practical using knife anyways.

Craig Camerer knives are a bargain right now. Very nice stuff.
I also like Matt Lamey's knives.

Vintagetimenow - that is one of the nicest Winklers I have ever seen. Walking man is spot on about Camerer.

Yeah, I'm really hooked on Daniels' stuff! He just finished this up this week, I just got it today. It's a beast, very solid in the hand and certainly would be handy on the frontier....capable of chopping down small trees I'm sure. It's also just plain beautiful. I've had to do some major selling of my other knives to get into these, but man, they are addictive.
Thanks, John Merling
