Pricing discontinued models

Seems I missed the boat with the Spyderco Dodo and Benchmade Mini Skirmish. They haunt my dreams. But I do know of an online dealer that still has a few left. Thing is, they are priced at $168 and $224 respectively. Seems a bit high for what they are.

Can anyone tell me how far off those prices are from what they used to go for, both MSRP and average dealer prices?

I'll probably break down and grab 'em anyway, but I'd still like to know so that I can torture myself.:)
 
I too missed the boat on the Mini Skirmish. I'll try to pick one up used though.
 
I bought a PE Dodo from Newgraham several months before it was discontinued for $87 and some change. This was one of the lower prices for the model, although right after it was discontinued Sierra Trading had a bunch of Blue SE models for $55! MSRP was $139.95

Right now for a SE model NIB $168 would be on the mid-high end for an eBay auction. For a PE model that price would be closer to mid-line but it's a little high in either case. If you wait around a little bit you should be able to score a NIB model for a bit less. But then we're back to the old argument about time or money. :D

Brand new the mini-Skirmish was around $140. Still sells for around that much on the forums.
 
The original listing of the 630 Skirmish in the '04 Benchmade Catalog was at $220 MSRP. I would assume that the original MSRP of the 635 mini Skirmish the next year was nearly as much, if not more. In the 'Classic' section of the Benchmade's site 'Products' listing, the 635 mini-Skirmish has MSRPs of $230-$260 now. I assume those were the last prices.

Whatever the cost - my 630/635 pair are keepers. Mine were both bought, fortunately, in the $160-$170 range - earlier this year. Great bargains. I'd pay list for them now, if I didn't have them. Nicer than the Buck #172 Mayo TNT (MSRP $350) - somewhat closer to a Sebbie ($400+).
