How much would an unused (like new) Ek Commando knife be worth?

It was made in the '80's in Richmond, Va. It has a corded grip and its original sheath, also in new condition. I don't have its original box or cloth.

I was just wanting to get a general ball park price on it. I am thinking about trading or selling it.

Be careful on the year and what factory the piece came from.

Last time i inquired about Ek knives i found that there was a time when the knives were made of inferior quality due to different ownership. Sorry i can't give more details but search function is not available...

Given the current state of the economy, even the more desirable knives aren't selling for what they used to sell for. This isn't an Ek thing, it's across the boards.

My advice to you: If you don't absolutely, positively have to sell it, don't. In another year (or maybe two), things will get back to normal. I hope.

If you do have to sell it, prepare to be disappointed.

+1 to that.
9 months ago an Effingham Ek would bring $150 or better. now they're pulling $70 on eprey

I was going to trade it for another knife. I wanted to trade it for a Cold Steel Trail Master Carbon V.

I will probably have to throw in some $ but I wanted to know what my knife was worth.

I don't like all the paracord. I have spoken to Ek and they will replace it with micarta but it would cost me $91.00 to have them do it and ship it back to me. I will know more tomorrow but I will probably take your advice and keep it. I would still like to have the Cold Steel knife, too. I might just buy it outright.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you do decide to sell, let me know. Though I will still advise you to hang onto it.
