Pride of ownership - finally can define it!

It's been mentioned before in previous threads about pride of ownership. While I have agreed with that, I'm not sure what it meant for me. Having pondered this a while, I think I have now come up with a few examples and characteristics which define "Pride of Ownership" for me.

- I know that many new knives will be introduced over time, but it will be exceeding rare that the new knife will exceed the qualities of the sebenza. This means I don't feel the need to "hop on the band wagon" and buy every little thing that comes out.

- I know from experience that I can use my sebenza for years and it won't "wear out" like many other knives.

- I know that I don't have to fuss with balancing ease of opening with pivot tightness. It's just not an issue like it is with every single other knife out there.

- I know that sitting in my pocket is a portable real life example of quality that I can carry with me wherevr (mostly) I go.

- While I can share my knife with random other individuals, I usually don't, but I can come here share my knives with others, or share in in appreciation of theirs with a mutual satisfaction and understanding. As a community "we're on the same page".

Dave H. - I am with you on the pride of ownership. People who appreciate quality have all liked the sebenza. Even many knifemakers who haven't seen one, like them when given a chance to inspect the knife.

Also having a sebenza is like having a good friend who is always there. Since ive had my sebenza , ive had 3 girlfriends, 2 new cars 4 pairs of sneakers, a set of golf clubs, and yet i still have my good friend sebbie. Other things come and go in life without much thought, and to tell you the truth i dont really miss them when they go. But sometimes if im away from sebbie for the weekend, i tend to miss it. I could go on and on about sebenza love, but im sure most of you already know about it.

Number three on your list is a big one for me. I love the Sebenza pivot and the fact that all I have to do is tighten the screw down all the way and I get perfect action out of the knife. No messing with 1/32 rotations of the screw to find that perfect balance and no need to use loctite to try and keep it from getting looser as I use it. To me, that is one of the best parts of owning a Sebenza. I love being able to take it apart to clean it and know that when I put it back together it will be just perfect without having to fuss with it.

Well said Dave. You can buy all the "whiz bang au courant " knives, guns, cars or whatever you want. But some things can’t and will not be improved upon no matter how cool, snazzy or hip they may seem. Like my Father always tried to teach me, "There is no substitute for quality materials and craftsmanship". Here's to the Sebbie, here's to CR himself and here's to us.
